Why You Should Seek Discomfort

So you’ve heard you should seek discomfort.

Sounds weird, huh? Why would you seek discomfort?

In this article, I’ll go over what seeking discomfort means, why you should do it, and how to seek discomfort.

Ladies and Gentlemen: Fasten your seatbelt, take a deep breath, and start reading. You’re ready to start seeking discomfort.

What Does It Mean to Seek Discomfort

Seeking discomfort starts from wanting to get more out of life. If you’re okay where you’re at now, you’ve come to the wrong place.

Seeking discomfort means getting out of your comfort zone.

It means going through the storm. It means doubling down on your weaknesses. It means doing what you don’t want to do. Seeking discomfort means facing your fears. It means seeking your fears, to overcome them.

Why Do People Seek Discomfort

While seeking discomfort might sound like suicide, you need to look at it from a long-term perspective.

You need to take into consideration the positive outcomes of it.

The goal of seeking discomfort is truly to find peace and greatness.

I have to say that if you’re completely happy and peaceful where you’re at in life, you probably shouldn’t seek discomfort.

Why You Should Seek Discomfort

Because seeking discomfort is the only way to reach comfort.

Think about comfort as levels or zones.

You’re currently in a comfort zone. If you’re able to handle the fears and pain and to get out of it by seeking discomfort, you’ll reach a new comfort zone — a higher level of comfort.

You’ll be stronger and feel more confident.

When things get tough, we tend to lean toward comfort. That’s exactly what you need to avoid. That’s what the weak do. You’re offbeat. You need to be strong.

How To Handle Discomfort

Now the hard part. How do you handle discomfort?

Handling discomfort is difficult.

There will be very low moments when you’ll be about to give up. You need to bite the bullet and go on in those moments, knowing that it will go away.

You need to think about the big picture, and ask yourself “what if” — what if you’re able to handle the pain that others can’t? What if that’s the way to reach goals that others don’t manage to achieve.

You need to keep in mind that after the storm there will always be the sun.

Bite the bullet, brother!
